Last Friday I had the opportunity to take some photos for the Henry Wisewood senior football team. My friend’s son is playing in his senior year and asked me to come by and shoot some photos. I have really fond memories of these football fields as I played here when I was in high school – a long time ago – haha!
The game started on a gorgeous Friday night at 5:00 at Shouldice Park. The Wisewood boys were taking on the dreaded St Francis Browns. If you know anything about Calgary high school football you know Francis are the perennial champs. They somehow put a strong team on the field every year. But I was looking the Wisewood boys over during warm up and they seemed pumped and ready for the challenge. The game was a defensive match-up for most of the first quarter. Then, both teams got into a rhythm and the scoring started. Luckily, the Wisewood D had come to play and kept the Browns to only 16 points. They had a key interception for a touchdown too – that was the TSN turning point and gave the Warriors the momentum to close the deal and go on to win.
I would like to congratulate the whole Wisewood team on the classiest win I’ve ever seen. This wasn’t a play off game or anything, but it was huge win. After the game the whole team acted with the utmost respect and decorum. Congratulations to the Browns for a classy loss as well – it must’ve been a tough one, but every player and fan on their team deserves a huge shout out!
I hope both teams gone on to have a great season and maybe we’ll see a rematch in the city finals!
The above picture says it all – thanks for stopping by!
