Northern Flicker – a 400mm Series

I went out for a dog walk and had my Canon 400mm attached to a Canon 60D. It was a nice day and the birds were singing everywhere. I don’t usually take the dog along when I’m trying to get bird shots but this was more a dog walk where I just happened to have a camera – and a long lens – haha! My initial intention was to walk along the Elbow river and try to get some duck shots but there were none to be found. This little guy was having some fun up in a tree so I got a couple of him. This shot is mid peck – you can actually see his pecking face – haha! I’m hoping to get out lots this spring and early summer with this combination of lens/camera for bird shots.
